Day 3 in France (post dated 6/6/13)

Today the kids got up and went to the pool in the morning.  After lunch we headed for Antibes and messed around.  We found a Picasso museum so that made up for the one we missed out on in Barcelona.  This museum had previously been a castle that Picasso had stayed in for a couple of months while making new pieces of art.  He gifted quite a bit to the owners of the castle.  About 20 years later, the Mayor of Antibes decided the castle should be converted into a Picasso museum.  They had many of his original artworks.  They were about what you would expect from Picasso.  There was some pottery and sculptures that were nice.  I didn't know he worked in those mediums.  There also was a room that consisted only of sketches.  I don't want to be offensive but to me, they seemed a little bit silly for being placed in a museum but I guess they got to be there just because of who created them.  Not because of how good they were.

We also found a chocolate store and ate inside a cave made out of chocolate.

Then we found a cheese store.  We ate cheese that had been sitting in a cellar for 3 months wrapped in leaves.  We bought foie gras (duck liver-supposedly a delicacy) at the same place.

After visiting a jellyfish infested beach we went up to St. Paul de Vence.  Another Eze type town.  It was very fun to explore.  It's good that it's been staying light until almost 10:00 because we didn't even get there until 8:00.  We were very glad that we made the last minute decision to go.  We would have gone for just the smell alone since it is spring and all the blossoms are quite fragrant.
