Day 2 in France

Today we went to Eze and Monaco.  All I can say is wow.  Eze may be the most impressive place I have ever seen.  It's a little village in the French Riviera that spirals around the top of a hill overlooking the Mediterranean.  It is over 1000 years old.

We started our tour of Eze with a picnic lunch and an awesome view
Thanks for the handy cooler, Grandma Schuck

Then we headed for the village

It was filled with all kinds of shops, restaurants and hotels.  We are crepe freaks at home so
we had to stop and get some from this nice crepe maker man.

We thought that it couldn't get any better until we decided to pay the 18 Euros to go to the top.  We almost opted out and I'm so glad that we didn't.  It was truly spectacular.  There were beautiful gardens, sculptures and views worth every penny.

Below is our view from the chairs above that we had all to ourselves.

The legend that goes with the bridge above, crossing the ravine, says that a man made a deal with the devil to get it built.  The devil would build it but he got to keep the first soul that crossed it.  The man who made the deal felt horrible that an innocent soul would be taken.  When he went out to find the bridge the next morning, he picked up a stick and threw it across the bridge and his dog went to fetch it.  The devil was outraged that he got the soul of a dog.  It's supposed to be a happy ending but my girls, dog lovers that they are, were anything but happy about the outcome.

The Cathedral

After we dealt with John's parking ticket we headed to Monaco which was only about 10 minutes away.  We didn't think we would be impressed after spending the afternoon in Eze but it did not disappoint.

Below is the palace where the prince of Monaco resides.  We were able to watch the
changing of the guards which was kind of fun.

This is where the grand prix begins.

Bryton was especially impressed with all the fancy cars in Monte Carlo.  In the picture
below, he is just above the famous casino standing with a Ferrari.

We got home around 9:00, made spaghetti, made music videos, drank milk out of bleach bottles and made candles out of babybel cheese wax.
